The Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association's 2015 Summer Meeting was held in Valentine this year. In addition to encouraging state-wide colaboration, the NVMA offers educational training conventions. At this summer's convention, Dr. Wood and Dr. Butler particularly enjoyed Dr. Tim Holt's classes on integrative therapies, including acupuncture, osteopathy, massage, laser, and manual therapies.

Our dedication to pain management through the use of integrative therapies began in 2003 with our low level, cold laser. In 2011, we introduced our Class IV (warm) laser therapy and surgery to our practice. Our Class IV laser offers our patients relief from a wide variety of pain types, including pain associated with surgery, injuries, and arthritis. In addition to laser therapy, acupuncture and massage therapy can help reduce muscle, joint, and back/neck pain. These therapies are also beneficial when dealing with nerve disfunctions and other diseases.
The benefits of each type of alternative therapy can last from a few hours and up to weeks after treatment. Dr. Wood can help relieve pain and demonstrate different techniques that you can use at home for your dog or cat. In horses, differing techniques can be used by Dr. Butler both to soothe and diagnose various conditions.

Make plans to attend our educational demonstations on laser, massage, and acupuncture therapies Saturday July 18th at 1:00 PM. Bring your pet for a consult and to learn techniques that you can use at home to help them!
